Depuis janvier 2023, la situation du Mpox concerne 2 régions (Littoral et Sud-Ouest) et 3 districts de santé, avec 35 cas suspects dont 13 confirmés, aucun décès et un taux de létalité nul. La région du Sud-Ouest constitue le principal foyer, notamment les districts de Mbonge et Kumba. L’âge médian des cas est de 33 ans, avec une forte prédominance masculine. Entre le 16 et le 27 mai 2023, plusieurs vagues de confirmations ont été enregistrées, totalisant 13 cas confirmés, principalement dans le Sud-Ouest. The official opening of this Regional Workshop for Experts from the nine countries of the region (Equatorial Guinea was absent) was chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health of Cameroon, representing the Minister who was unable to attend, alongside representatives from Africa CDC, IOM, OCEAC, and ECCAS. He thanked Africa CDC for the initiative and for choosing his country to host the event, before wishing the meeting every success. Attendees included national experts on surveillance, PoEs, and RCCE from Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, CAR, Gabon, DRC, Sao Tome and Principe, and Chad.
